My Journey to Becoming Fit (Part I. The Motivation)

           It was last February 2012 that I saw an invite in Facebook to watch the launching of CDO Bikini Summit 2012 to be held at Club Tilt. In the same night, Fritz and I were walking along Divisoria since she was looking for a shop that could help her in their future business endeavor with her friends, though I forgot what shop it was but it was near Bo’s Coffee and coincidentally, it was also near Club Tilt. There, I saw the poster of the CDO Bikini Summit 2012 contestant with their 1st sexy top photo shoot. I asked Fritz that we still have the chance to join although we know we don’t have the fit body needed for the contest. Fritz just laughed but I’m a little bit serious when I asked that...hahaha. But honestly when I looked at the poster, all was there was only a fit body but majority lacked projection and the model-like bearing (these referred to the male contestants since the females were evidently had more experience in terms of joining this type of bikini contest). I told myself if only I have the great body, I can even surpassed those male contestants since the model-like projection had barely no problem for me since I developed that during my modeling workshop at Wafer Model Philippines.

The CDO Bikini Summit Poster. Where my motivation all started.
             Then I saw how the contestants even developed their shape and their projections as the contests went along. It was not just a one time show but if I am not mistaken, it was a 4-month series of shows at Club Tilt (but I did not watch all the shows. I just get updates through Facebook). When I saw how they even further improved, I reflected that if they can do that, then what’s the reason why I can’t do the same thing to myself. I am known for being a continuous improvement leader across the organization, likewise a transformation and change agent so I must be a model of change not just in technical aspect but also something that can be literally seen…my body shape! I finally decided to make a change and my journey to becoming fit already started officially mid May 2012. I already have the motivation, that is to achieve the same body shape with the male contestants…Next is the how to do it…

My body shape status when I decided to change.

Worth Remembering

Of all the good memories we have, how would you choose those worth remembering? I, for instance have difficulty in choosing not because I have plenty of good memories but I have plenty of great memories to choose from.

 They say people change, memories don’t. So it’s important to keep the memories alive, at least you have chosen the good ones to keep for a lifetime. As always said, the moments may have ended but the memories will last forever. So save all those good memories and deposit it in your emotional bank. Who knows, good memories will repeat itself…How I wish...

HONESTLY

It was a very productive week for our company as we had just the management team building and the operational master planning for the factory. Our department was in-charge for the over-all preparations, facilitation and consolidation of the outcomes. Of course, I am very much active and hands on with the activities.

As I went home at 11:00 PM after the mind draining 2nd day activity, I browsed through the playlist of songs stored in my SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab Mini phone. Then I played “Honestly’. Harem Scarem really interpreted the song very well. I told myself, if I were just gifted with beautiful voice then this piece is certainly part of my audition piece in Pilipinas Got Talent. Yes, I am still awake when I think of that and not yet dreaming. Now, it made me think to enroll in a voice class. It’s not yet too late. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

HONESTLY

I stand before you accused of many crimes
But I want to believe that love can still survive
You don't have to say it, I don't have to read your mind
To know that emptiness has finally arrived
How was I to know right from wrong
Words were hardly spoken, so where did I go wrong
Tell me honestly, if you're still loving me
Looking into my eyes honestly
Words have more meaning, if they're said at certain times
I need you now so I can feel alive
How would you know if you won't give me some time
To see if everything could work you'll be mine
I'll be lost forever or someday I may find
The words that I've been searching for or just some peace of mind
Tell Me Honestly
If you’ll still in love with me
Looking into my eyes, Honestly

All the nights I sit and wonder there must be more life
I'm sure that days and years go by while
I am living with, living with a lonely feeling

DESIDERATA

If I could remember it right, I was in my 5th grade when I memorized this very beautiful poem by American writer Max Ehrmann. I don't understand the whole meaning of the poem then until I read it again...and that was when I just started as a cadet engineer. This poem is an inspiration to me and most of my career achievements I owed with this poem.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

That phrase has changed my ideology of improving myself. I used to compare myself with others to know if I am at far with the competition. But I realized that my greatest competitor is no less than me, myself and I.

My friends, I am sharing this poem. May this help You in discovering more about the complex You.

DESIDERATA
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

A Gift To My Kinugos This Christmas (OSIM iKOOL Mini Fan)

I arrived in Cebu for my Christmas vacation last December 24 at 5:00am. I sailed with Trans Asia 5 from CDO to Cebu. It was a day before Christmas and still has no gifts for my Kinugos (God Children). As soon as I arrived home at 6:00am and placed my two luggages in my room, I started to think what I should give this Christmas. Last year, I have given them bag with thermal insulation inside so they can use it for their “baon” or for any other purposes as well.
Since kids and toddlers are so very active that they sweat a lot, they need to be refreshed all the time. This year, I decided to look for a portable fan that they can use anywhere, anytime. I went to the mall and luckily, I found what I am looking for---the OSIM iKool Fan with a Cool Mist. And I am so happy that the price matched with my budget. I have over a dozen Kinugos and the stocks are only limited that time, so I purchased all that were available. For the rest of my Kinugos, I have given them something else.
This OSIM i-Kool Mini-Fan is battery operated using 2 AA batteries. This comes in a very fashionable design. It has a water or liquid reservoir where you can put cologne or perfume that provides up to 500 sprays that could even freshens you up while you cool down. The pump-action atomizer cools you down with an ultra fine mist. Because of its flexible fan blades, this Mini-fan is safe for kids. It is lightweight, portable and very convenient. You can bring this anywhere you go and with class.
To all my Kinugos, you should thank your Ninong for being smart. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

My Cherry Amor (Cherry Mobile M35)

Last 2009, Fairchild Cooperative advertised about Cherry Mobile products. As an active COOP member, we have the option to have a cell phone loan payable for two years. Since the nature of my work requires rendering overtime, I always have this problem of not able to watch my favorite shows. Cherry Mobile M35 entertains you of its built-in TV, basically the main reason why I bought one unit. Another feature is the Dual SIM menu options. This feature has somewhat changed my career. Why?  SIM1 is allocated for personal and business use while SIM2 is EXCLUSIVELY for my job application purposes. Anyone who calls SIM2 immediately means my future employer. This feature also serves a POKA-YOKE for my job application. And it's in SIM2 where NESTLE called me a year ago.
It has been two years that I have this CHERRY MOBILE M35 and until now, it looks perfectly the same since I bought (or loaned) for PhP5600.
Other features include 2.0MP camera with zoom, mp3 and radio player. Interesting feature then was the motion sensor and shake application.
Today, I already have my SAMSUNG Galaxy Mini but I am still actively using my CHERRY MOBILE M35 having the same set-up of SIM 1 and SIM2 with its intended SIM purposes. This phone is not just an ordinary phone for me. This reminds me of my career shift and a very promising career ahead for NESTLE.

Looking for Greener Pasture

This year 2011 marks another chapter in my career. After almost 9 years (including my cadetship year) in Fairchild Semiconductor, I bid farewell to the company who trained and exposed me globally. I had the best mentors in the field of semiconductor physics, material science and engineering, mathematical modeling, project management, Lean Six Sigma, process and package development engineering, and materials testing development. It was a very hard decision to leave The Power Franchise and made a 360 degrees turn in my career by joining Good Food Good Life, Choose Wellness Choose Nestle.

March 31, 2011 was my last stint in Fairchild. I was the very first engineer who resigned this 2011. And others follow even until now. In the lighter side, it was in the last quarter of 2010 that my colleagues in Package Development Engineering Group had a lunch at KFC Mandaue and out of the discussions, I came up with an Engineer's Handbook and Guidelines. This contains mnemonics using most used engineering abbreviations in Fairchild and of course the 10 Golden Rules.

I have never shared the soft copy before not until now. Enjoy and who knows, you can put this in good use.
